CHICAGO (Sept. 19, 2024) – The UIC volleyball team (7-3, MVC) battled Loyola (4-6, 0-0 A-10) down to the fifth set, but came up short Thursday night at the McGrath-Phillips Arena, 3-2.
Junior
Ayat Amin (Cairo, Egypt/Al Waha International School) led the attack for UIC, collecting 15 kills, four digs and two assists. Freshman
Antonie Kelnárová (Prague, Czech Republic) tallied a career-high 11 kills and 14 digs. Graduate student
Zahria Woodard (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest) contributed eight kills and six total blocks.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- Amin has now collected double-digit kills in the three of the past four matches. The junior has had 19 double-digit kill performances in her collegiate career at UIC.
- UIC collected 65 digs against the Ramblers, the second-most by the Flames this season. Four Flames tallied double-digit digs: Kelnárová (14), sophomore libero Hannah Howard (Toledo, Ohio/Eastern Michigan/Saint Ursula Academy) had 11 digs, junior Francesca Venturini (Bergamo, Italy/Liceo Classico Paolo Sarpi) and sophomore Tamara Kisic (Belgrade/Serbia) each contributed 10 digs.
- Known mostly for setting up her teammates for kills, redshirt freshman setter Mihaela Harizanova (Sofia, Bulgaria) tied her collegiate-high with two kills against the Ramblers. Her last two-kill performance came against North Dakota back on Aug. 31.
- UIC remains in the top three stats categories of hitting percentage (.243), assists (12.48), kills (13.45), blocks (2.12) and points per set average in all of the Missouri Valley Conference.
