Men’s Soccer Falls in Tight Home Match to No. 12 Northwestern

Flames Narrowly Edged by Nationally Ranked Wildcats Monday

CHICAGO (Sept. 2, 2024) – The UIC men's soccer team (1-3-0, 0-0-0 MVC) returned home to Flames Field on Monday, as it took part in its second consecutive match against a ranked opponent, this time hosting no. 12 Northwestern (4-0-0, 0-0-0 B1G).

The Wildcats controlled the bulk of possession in the first half, but the Flames did a good job of keeping them away from the net early on. Northwestern finally broke through in the 41st minute, scoring the eventual match-winning goal on a header in the box. UIC came out strong in the second half, tripling its shot total from the first 45 minutes, but were unable to break through to level the match, falling by a final score of 1-0.
