COMMENTS FROM HEAD COACH SEAN PHILLIPS
"Winning a game via a shutout on the road is always difficult," said head coach
Sean Phillips. "The game tonight felt like a rivalry match. Â A bit of individual quality got us the goal. Â Solid team defending and some grit in the second half earned the result."
The Flames jumped out to an early lead Friday, asÂ
Rui Reis (Lisbon, Portugal) netted his second goal of the season in the tenth minute to give UIC the 1-0 lead.Â
Oren Asher (Hetzliya, Israel/Rutgers) made three crucial first-half saves, and made seven total saves enroute to his first clean sheet of the season. The Flames earned their second victory of the season, blanking the Golden Grizzlies by a 1-0 final score.
