  • The Flames started off the 2024 season strong, going 3-0 at the FGCU's Hilton Garden Inn Fort Myers Classic this past weekend. After beating UAlbany in four sets on Friday, UIC went on to win back-to-back five-set thrillers against North Dakota State and FGCU to clinch the tournament win.
  • Graduate student Zahria Woodard (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest) earned MVP of the tournament after contributing 44 kills over the three matches, averaging 3.14 kills per set. Defensively, Woodard tallied a team-leading 19 total blocks. Her efforts on the court later earned her Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week.
  • Sophomore Tamara Kisic (Belgrade, Serbia) collected back-to-back double-digit kill performances in Saturday's contests to earn a spot on the all-tournament team.
  • Redshirt freshman Mihaela Harizanova (Sofia, Bulgaria) showed dominance from the service line over the three matches, firing a team-high eight service aces in the Flames' three victories.
