Women’s Basketball Opens Three-Game Homestand Friday Against Bradley

The Flames aim to end four-game skid against the Braves. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. (CT).

CHICAGO (Jan. 16, 2025) – The UIC women's basketball team (4-10, 1-4 MVC) returns back to Credit Union 1 Arena for the first time in 2025 for more Missouri Valley Conference play when they host Bradley (8-8, 2-3 MVC) for a 7 p.m. (CT) tip-off Friday night. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+ with live stats on UICFlames.com.
 
The game will also be Student Organization night, where the first 500 students will receive a free pom-pom hat.
 
Fans attending are encouraged to purchase their tickets online through Ticketmaster as well as through the UIC Athletics Ticket Office (312-413-UIC1) or by visiting the Credit Union 1 Arena box office on game day. Doors open an hour before first tip.

SCOUTING BRADLEY
  • This will be the 27th time both programs have battled it out on the hardwood. Although Bradley maintains a 16-11 overall series lead, the Flames have won the past four consecutive meetings since joining the MVC in July 2022.
  • In their last meeting, the Flames rolled to a 68-47 victory on the road at Renaissance Coliseum in Peoria, Ill. on Feb. 17, 2024. UIC was led by graduate student Keimari Rimmer (Chicago, Ill./Proviso East/DePaul) collected a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) also netted 13 points with 21 minutes off the bench.
  • After a 6-5 showing in non-conference play, the Braves have collected conference wins over Evansville (4-11, 0-4 MVC) and Indiana State (3-12, 1-3 MVC). They are in search of their first conference victory since Jan. 5.
  • After a lengthy career at Toledo, graduate student Soleil Barnes has made an offensive impact for the Braves. She leads Bradley in scoring with 15.6 points per game, ranking her 10th in the entire MVC.
 
LAST GAME RECAP – AT MURRAY STATE
  • The Flames finished out a four-game MVC road trip Sunday afternoon going toe-to-toe with the top offense in the MVC, falling to Murray State (10-4, 4-1 MVC) in a 67-60 bout at the CFSB Arena.
  • UIC was led in scoring by senior Krystyna Ellew (Chicago, Ill./Taft/Wisconsin), who sank three three-pointers enroute to a 13-point performance off the bench. The guard has sunk a three in five of the past six games, collecting 15 three-pointers since the Flames faced off against No.6 LSU on Dec. 19.
  • Williams collected 11 points and led the team in crashing the boards with nine rebounds. The senior has scored in double figures in nine games this season for the Flames, having collected 34 double-digit scoring games since joining UIC a season ago.
  • Senior Ky Dempsey-Toney (Franklin, N.J./Franklin) provided key bench minutes for the Flames, collecting 10 points, seven rebounds and a pair of blocks.
