Swimming and Diving Prepares For Senior Day Against Chicago

Flames set to honor 12 seniors.

CHICAGO (Jan. 17, 2025) – The UIC swimming and diving team is celebrating the program's 12 senior student-athletes prior to their meet, as they look to continue their strong start to 2025. Fans are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early for the ceremony.

SCOUTING CHICAGO
 
  • This will be the seventh time both programs are set to compete against each other. A season ago, both the men (147-149) and women (148-150) lost tightly contested battles.
  • In the meet, senior Daniel Galinski (Elmwood Park, Ill./Elmwood Park) won the men's 100 breaststroke (56.37 seconds) and recorded two second place finishes in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.63) and the 100 individual medley (52.64 seconds). Graduate Student Taira Juronis (Palos Hills, Ill./Alonzo Amos Stagg) collected wins in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.78) and in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.47). In diving, junior Harrison Nolan (Riverside, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) swept both events while junior Kerry-Leigh Morrison (Gauteng, South Africa/St. Mary's) placed second in the one-meter event and third in the three-meter respectively.
  • Chicago placed third their last out in a tri-meet with Northwestern and Penn State for both men and women.
 
 
DUAL MEET RECAP - EASTERN ILLINOIS AND SOUTHERN INDIANA
Swimming
  • On Friday, Graduate Student Liam Davis (Naperville, Ill./Plainfield North) won the 100 butterfly (51.21), 200 butterfly (1:52.28) and contributed to the winning men's 200 medley relay (1:33.17) and men's 400-freestyle relay (3:05.92).
  • On Saturday, Graduate Student Rafe Dolan Peterson (Austin, Minn./Austin) won the 100 backstroke (49.49), 100 butterfly (49.56) and contributed to the winning men's 400 medley relay (3:19.28) and men's 200-freestyle relay (1:22.70)
  • On Friday, sophomore Molly Kroeger (Easton, Md./Easton) won the 200 freestyle (53.91), 500 freestyle (5:02.56) and contributed to the winning women's 400 freestyle relay (3:33.09). She also placed second in the 100 freestyle (1:44.64).
  • On Saturday, junior Madison Helmick (Bingham Farms, Mich./Birmingham Groves) won four separate events, placing first in the 100 freestyle (52.24), 200 freestyle (1:53.72) and contributed to the winning women's 400 medley relay (3:50.30) and women's 200-freestyle relay (1:37.22)
Diving
  • Nolan swept the diving competitions for the men with scores of 373.13 in the one-meter and 393.38 in the three-meter.
  • Morrison swept the diving competitions for the women with scores of 261.08 points in the one-meter and 245.70 points in the three-meter events.
