CHICAGO – The Missouri Valley Conference announced its annual weekly honors Monday afternoon, naming redshirt-sophomore
Hannah Ditsworth the MVC Defensive Player of the Week after a spectacular showing on the road this past weekend in Iowa.
Ditsworth totaled 23 blocks across the Flames' two five-set thrillers, averaging 2.3 blocks per set. She opened her weekend with one kill and nine blocks versus Northern Iowa (21-5, 14-0 MVC) on Friday.
She followed it up with four kills and a career-high 14 blocks against Drake (14-11, 10-4 MVC) less than 24 hours later, setting the program record in blocking assists and total blocks.
Ditsworth has been a shining light in front of the net for the Flames, leading the team in blocks (95), while ranking sixth in blocks and first in blocks per set (1.48) in conference play while ranking 11th in NCAA Division I. This is Ditsworth's first MVC Player of the Week honor.
Ditsworth becomes the fourth Flame this season to receive weekly recognition from the conference. She joins seniors
Ayat Amin (Player of the Week – Oct. 20) and
Julieta Sandez (Player of the Week – Sept. 22), alongside freshman
Ana Petrides (Freshman of the Week – Sept. 8).
The Flames are back on the court Friday night, as they face off against Bradley (13-13, 7-7 MVC) on the road at Credit Union 1 Arena at 6 p.m. (CT). The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available on
