Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls at Hot-Shooting Robert Morris, 88-74

Flames back home Dec. 3 for 11 a.m. (CT) Education Day game vs. Arkansas Pine Bluff

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The UIC freshman guard duo of Andy Johnson and Rashund Washington Jr. combined for 34 points and each posted career scoring highs, but it wasn't enough to turn back a hot-shooting Robert Morris squad, 88-74 on Wednesday afternoon at the UPMC Events Center in suburban Pittsburgh. Junior guard Ahmad Henderson II added 13 points for the Flames (4-3), who were playing their fourth consecutive road game and one of eight in their first 12 outings this season.

RMU (4-3) had come into the contest shooting less than 30 percent from the three-point line this season, but connected on nearly half its long-distance tries on Wednesday. UIC battled hard in the second half and got as close as 12 points on a handful of occasions, but couldn't quite finish climbing the mountain in the closing 20 minutes.

The full box score and play-by-play recap from Wednesday's game at Robert Morris can be found here.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • UIC falls for the first time in six series matchups against Robert Morris.
  • RMU was the second of the Flames' three non-conference opponents who played in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
  • Johnson's previous career scoring high was 17 points against another of last year's NCAA Tournament participants, High Point, on Nov. 20 at the Geico Boardwalk Battle in Daytona Beach, Fla. He has scored in double figures in six of UIC's seven games this year (and he had nine points in the other game).
  • Washington had previously twice scored 13 points - in the Nov. 3 season opener against Detroit Mercy and then again on Nov. 20 in the matchup with High Point. He has posted four double-digit scoring games this year, including three of his last four outings (and he had nine in the other during that stretch).  He also finished one rebound shy of his career set on Nov. 15 at Chicago State.
  • Junior guard/forward Mekhi Lowery tied his career high with three steals, a mark he last hit on on Jan. 18, 2025, vs. Stony Brook, while he was playing for Towson.
  • Graduate student forward Abdul Momoh recorded two blocks, the third consecutive game and fourth time this season he has had multiple rejections in a game.
  • Graduate student guard Sam Silverstein tied his career high with four assists, hitting that mark for the sixth time in his career. He also tied his season high with seven rebounds, matching his total from the Nov. 3 season opener against another Horizon League opponent, Detroit Mercy.
