Women’s Basketball Opens the 2025 Iona Turkey Tip-Off Against Maine Friday

Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (CT) at the Hynes Athletic Center.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The UIC women's basketball team (3-3, 0-0 MVC) heads to the Empire State this weekend to compete in the 2025 Iona Turkey Tip-Off, facing off against Maine (1-4, 0-0 AEC) on Friday at 1:30 p.m. (CT) at the Hynes Athletic Center.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available at UICFlames.com.

SCOUTING MAINE
  • This will be the first meeting between Maine and UIC.
  • The Black Bears have searched for consistency early in the season, dropping three of their first four contests. Their lone win came at home against Stonehill (2-3, 0-0 NEC), a 79–53 victory on Nov. 17.
  • Redshirt senior Adrianna Smith leads Maine in scoring (18.0 PPG) and rebounding (9.0 RPG). She has already recorded three double-doubles this season.
  • Senior guard Asta Blauenfeldt is efficient offensively, leading the team in field-goal percentage (52.9%) and three-pointers made (14).
LAST GAME RECAP – AT BALL STATE
  • The Flames secured a closing seconds road victory Monday night, beating the undefeated Ball State (5-1, 0-0 MAC) at the Worthen Arena.
  • Redshirt Sophomore Julia Coleman sank the go-ahead bucket with 11.3 seconds to earn the win for the Flames. She finished the game with 16 points, five rebounds and three steals.
  • Sophomore TuTu Clayton secured a career-high 16 points in the victory, sinking four three-pointers from beyond the arc.
  • Sophomore Samantha Serrano posted 12 points, four rebound and two steals with 25 minutes off the bench.
  • The Flames earned their first victory over the Cardinals since December 1999.
