CHARLESTON, S.C. (Feb. 16, 2025) – The UIC baseball team (1-2, 0-0 MVC) closed out its two-game weekend series against Charleston Southern (2-1, 0-0 Big South) Sunday evening, as the game was pushed back five hours due to weather in South Carolina. The Flames took an early lead for the second game in a row, jumping out to a 5-0 advantage before the Buccaneers plated their first two runs in the third inning. The Flames would play add-on in the fifth, extending their lead to 8-2. UIC built its lead to 10-2 before Charleston Southern answered back, but the Flames would go on to win by a final score of 10-3.
Â
After launching five home runs in Saturday's 15-14 defeat, the Flames managed their first win of the season Sunday while only tallying two extra base hits, both doubles from
Will Flanigan. UIC got RBI contributions from seven spots in the lineup, including two from
Jack Snyder, his fifth and sixth RBI in the last two games. The Flames turned a 5-4-3 triple play to end the Buccaneers eighth inning, UIC's first triple play since at least 2016.
