CARBONDALE, Ill. (Feb. 16, 2025) – The UIC women's basketball team (10-13, 7-7 MVC) overwhelmed Southern Illinois (4-19, 2-12 MVC) on both sides of the ball in a 62-46 victory at the Banterra Center in Missouri Valley Conference road action Sunday afternoon.
The Flames were led by a trio of seniors in
Krystyna Ellew (Chicago, Ill./Taft/Wisconsin),
Arin Freeman (Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock/Coastal Carolina) and
Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) all scoring 12 points respectively. Senior
Ky Dempsey-Toney (Franklin, N.J./Franklin) scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds in under 19 minutes of play off the bench.

- Freeman has scored in double figures in two of the past three games for the Flames. She has scored in double figures in seven games throughout the season.
- Ellew's 12 points all came from beyond the arc, sinking four three pointers in the win. She has been effective for the Flames with a 42% in her shot selection from three, ranking fourth in the entire MVC.
- Collecting their 10th win on the season, third-year head coach Ashleen Bracey is now the first head coach since Lisa Ryckbosch (2002-11) to earn double-digit winsin her first three seasons at the helm. Collecting her 47th victory, Bracey is three wins away from the 50-win milestone.
