Women’s Basketball Hosts Evansville Sunday Afternoon on Annual Play4Kay Game

Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. (CT).

CHICAGO (Feb. 22, 2025) – The UIC women's basketball team (11-13, 8-7 MVC) aims to maintain momentum Sunday afternoon, when they host Evansville (6-20 2-13 MVC) for the Flames annual Play4Kay game at Credit Union 1 Arena for a 2 p.m. (CT)
 
This Missouri Valley Conference match-up will be available to stream on ESPN+, free to listen to on the Flames Network or to follow live stats on UICFlames.com.
 
Sunday's Play4Kay will honor those past and present, alongside their loved ones for their courageous battle against breast cancer, as we will be celebrating them all throughout the game. Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear pink.
 
The first 600 fans in attendance will receive a pink Flames replica jersey upon entry. Fans attending are encouraged to purchase their tickets online through Ticketmaster, as well as through the UIC Athletics Ticket Office (312-413-UIC1) or by visiting the Credit Union 1 Arena box office on game day. Doors open an hour before first tip.

SCOUTING EVANSVILLE
  • This will be the 20th meeting between both teams. Evansville remains ahead in the overall series, but with a UIC victory, the Flames have the opportunity to tie it up, 10-10.
  • In their last meeting, the Flames rolled through Meeks Family Fieldhouse for a 74-43 victory on Jan. 30. Senior Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) led all scorers in the game, scoring 19 points, collecting four assists and three rebounds. The Flames 29-point victory is the largest winning margin against an MVC opponent since joining the conference in 2022.
  • The Aces are in search of returning back to the win column, coming off back-to-back losses to Illinois State (17-9, 11-4 MVC) and Valparaiso (10-16, 6-9 MVC) Friday night. They sit 10th in the conference standings, with five games left of MVC play.
  • Freshman Logan Luebbers Peppers is coming off of MVC Freshman of the Week honors a week ago, capping off her week with a team-leading 17 points against the Redbirds. She becomes the third freshman on the Aces to earn this award, joining Avery Kelley and Camyrn Runner.
 
INDIANA STATE RECAP
  • The Flames opened their two-game homestand on a high note, offensively overwhelming Indiana State (4-22, 2-13 MVC) in a 94-71 victory in front of 3,026 fans on Kid's Day at Credit Union 1 Arena Friday afternoon.
  • Three Flames earned double-doubles in the win. Ky Dempsey-Toney tallied 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead all Flames scorers in the win, as the senior forward is averaging 16 points in her last two games.
  • Jaida McCloud and Keimari Rimmer joined Dempsey-Toney in the double-double club Friday, as McCloud tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Rimmer netted 20 points and 10 boards.
  • UIC assisted on 27 of its 33 baskets Friday, its second highest single-game assist total of the 2024-25 season (30 assists vs. North Central, Dec. 8, 2024).
