COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2025) – The UIC baseball team (2-8, 0-0 MVC) opened its three-game series against Tennessee Tech (7-3, 0-0 OVC) Friday afternoon, as the Flames and Golden Eagles met for the 12
th time in series history.
The Flames took an early lead for the fourth straight game, scoring the game's first run in the top of the first inning on an RBI triple from
Jackson Bessette, the second career triple for the junior catcher. After the early offensive outburst, the Golden Eagles took control of the game, scoring in five of eight innings to build an 11-1 advantage.
The Flames mounted a late comeback in the ninth inning, scoring for the first time since the first, plating four highlighted by a two-run home run by
Vidal Colon.
Lucas Smith tallied three hits on the day to lead UIC, but the Flames would drop the opener by a 11-5 final score.
