Women’s Basketball Hosts Murray State for the Missouri Valley Conference Game of the Week Friday Night.

The Flames and Racers set to battle on UIC’s Pride Night.

CHICAGO (Feb. 6, 2025) – The UIC women's basketball team (8-11, 5-5 MVC) return home to Credit Union 1 Arena to host Murray State (14-5, 9-2 MVC) for the Missouri Valley Conference Game of the Week Friday night at 7 p.m. (CT).
 
The game will be available to stream on ESPN+ with Jordan Bernfield doing Play-by-Play and Jacqui Kalin providing color commentary. Fans can also listen to the game for free on the Flames Network with Andres Tejeda and Sam Garcia calling the game. Live stats are also available on UICFlames.com.
 
Friday's game will also be UIC's Pride Night, where we celebrate members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The first 300 fans in attendance will receive a "Choose Love," t-shirt upon entering the arena.
 
Fans attending are encouraged to purchase their tickets online through Ticketmaster, as well as through the UIC Athletics Ticket Office (312-413-UIC1) or by visiting the Credit Union 1 Arena box office on game day. Doors open an hour before first tip.

SCOUTING MURRAY STATE
  • This will be the seventh match-up between the Flames and the Racers. Murray State holds onto a 5-1 lead in the overall series.
  • The Flames aim to bounce back against the Racers, after falling short 67-60 on the road to Murray State on Jan. 12. Senior Krystyna Ellew (Chicago, Ill./Taft/Wisconsin) sank three three-pointers enroute to a 13-point performance off the bench. Senior Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) scored 11 points and grabbed a team-leading nine rebounds.
  • The Racers were in the middle a six-game winning streak amidst conference play before falling to Belmont (14-7, 9-1 MVC) on the road last Saturday. Graduate student Katelyn Young was offensively on fire for the Racers, scoring 39 points on 15-for-20 shooting. She also collected seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal in 35 minutes of play.
  • The Racers remains the top offense in the MVC, averaging 88.8 points per game. They are also strong on the boards, ranking second in the conference in combined rebounds with 40.5 a game.
 
LAST WEEKEND RECAP – AT EVANSVILLE/INDIANA STATE
 
  • The Flames opened a two-game road trip at Evansville (5-16, 1-4) Thursday night, rolling through the Purple Aces in a 74-43 victory. Williams led all scorers at Meeks Family Field House with 19 points, four assists and three rebounds. Ellew and senior Ky Dempsey-Toney (Franklin, N.J./Franklin) each contributed nine points off the bench.
  • The 29-point winning margin against an MVC opponent since joining The Valley in the summer of 2022. The win surpasses UIC's road victory at Bradley (64-38) on Feb. 25, 2023.
  • UIC followed the win in Evansville with a 58-53 victory over Indiana State (3-18, 1-9 MVC) Saturday afternoon at the Hulman Center. Dempsey-Toney led the way for the Flames to her second collegiate double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds coming off the bench.

  • Graduate student Kristian Young (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawerence North) is six assists away from becoming the first player in program history to have score 750+ points, grabbed 500+ rebounds and collected 500+ assists. Entering Friday's game, she has 818 points, 543 rebounds and 494 assists in her collegiate career.
  • Young is also 11 assists away from surpassing UIC alumni Terri Bender (2012-17) as the program's all-time leader in career assists.
  • Midway through her third season as head coach, Ashleen Bracey has 45 career wins, five more wins away from the 50-win milestone.
