COMMENT FROM HEAD COACH ASHLEEN BRACEY

"Disappointed obviously in the lost. I think we are definitely capable of beating Belmont, and I don't think we play our best basketball today, but I did think we battled. I think it's tough for us, we found a nice post presence inside with Kyierah Dempsey-Toney and Jaida McCloud and Keimari Rimmer. Belmont makes it really tough to get clean touches in there (the paint). So, I think our productivity inside really struggled today, which made it so difficult for us to score. On top of that, they just turn you over. Tuti Jones flies all over that court… number 23….Jaylin Banks does as well. Just a really, really good basketball team, one of Bart's best team he has had at Belmont, they are just so selfless with the ball. Proud of the team for the battle. We've got work to do to reach our full potential and I think everybody is up for the challenge."

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
  • Collecting five assists in the game, graduate student Kristian Young (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) became the first member in program history to have collected 750+ points, 500+ rebounds and 500+ assists in her career at UIC. Now with 502 assists, the guard just needs three more assists to become the program leader in career assists, surpassing UIC alumni Terri Bender (2012-17) at 504.
  • This is the third time Ellew has hit four three-pointers in a game, tying a season high. The guard also hit four triples against #8 LSU on Dec. 19 and against Valparaiso on Jan. 26, with all three games happening at home at Credit Union 1 Arena.
  • Freeman finished the weekend with back-to-back double figure performances, averaging 13.5 points per game.
