CHICAGO – The UIC baseball team (3-13, 0-0 MVC) returned to Curtis Granderson Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, as the Flames welcomed Northwestern (7-8, 0-0 B1G) for a mid-week matinee.
Following an early second inning offensive outburst from the Wildcats, the Flames promptly answered back in the home half, as
Vidal Colon plated a two-out RBI with a single to right field.
Terrick Thompson-Allen tied the game an inning later with a solo home run to right field, his first of the 2025 season.
Catcher
Jackson Bessette gave the Flames the lead for good with a two-run home run later in the third inning, putting UIC ahead 4-2 with his third long ball of the year.
Luke Nowak continued his hot hitting as of late, gathering four hits on the day including a fifth inning RBI single to extend the lead to 5-2. The Flames bullpen held the Wildcats off the board in the final seven frames, securing a victory and the first save of the season for
Reece Lawler.
