LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The UIC baseball team (3-15, 0-0 MVC) closed out its series against Purdue (17-2, 2-1 B1G) on Saturday, as the two met for a double-header to avoid the weather in central Indiana on Sunday.

GAME ONE RECAP
The Flames jumped out to an early lead in game one, as
Jackson Bessette launched his fourth home run of the year to give UIC a 2-0 lead.
Tommy Egan was solid for the Flames in his second start of the year on the bump, allowing just one earned run in 5.1 innings pitched, striking out three Boilermakers on the day.

Bessette continued his hot hitting as of late, re-earning UIC a two-run lead with a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning. The Boilermakers' bats woke up in the home half of the eighth inning, plating eight runs in the frame, including a grand slam to go on to a 9-3 victory.

GAME TWO UPDATE
Â
The Flames took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as
Colin Husko cleared the bases with a triple down the line.
David Cox hit his first home run of the season an inning later, putting the Flames ahead 4-0.

In the fourth inning, the rain began to come down, and the tarp was placed on the field. The game was declared suspended in the bottom of the fourth, with the Boilermakers batting and UIC ahead 4-0. It will be continued from that point on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. CT.
