Baseball Comes Up Short in Series Finale at Tennessee Tech

Flames Falter Sunday Afternoon, Drop Three-Game Set

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (March 2, 2025) – The UIC baseball team (2-10, 0-0 MVC) closed out its three-game set against Tennessee Tech (9-3, 0-0 OVC) on Sunday afternoon, as the Flames looked to avoid the sweep by the Golden Eagles. Tennessee Tech scored the game's first run for the first time in the series, getting on the board in the home half of the first inning. The Flames took the lead in the top of the fourth, highlighted by a David Cox RBI single, before Tech took a 6-2 lead with five runs in the bottom of the fourth.

UIC narrowed the gap in the sixth as James Harris launched his first home run of the season, a solo shot to cut the deficit to 6-3. Tennessee Tech answered with two in the home half of the sixth and carried that 8-3 lead home.
