LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The UIC baseball team (2-11, 0-0 MVC) began a three-game weekend series at Louisville (10-2, 0-0 ACC) Friday, as the Flames and Cardinals met for an early afternoon game on Elementary School Day at Jim Patterson Stadium. The Flames were playing at Louisville for the second time in program history, with the first being to open the Louisville Regional in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
Â
The Cardinals strong pitching was evident from the early going, holding the Flames scoreless through the first four innings and striking out 12 for the game. Louisville tallied runs in each of the first four frames, building an 8-0 lead before the Flames answered with a run in the top of the fifth. UIC would get one more run in the seventh on a solo home run from
AJ Taylor in his first appearance of the season, but fell by a final score of 10-2.
Â
Terrick Thompson-Allen led the Flames with two hits on the day, while
Payton Barton and
Michael Vitellaro each tossed a scoreless inning in relief on the mound.
