CARBONDALE, Ill. – The UIC baseball team (4-18, 1-2 MVC) closed out its three-game series against Southern Illinois (15-7, 2-1 MVC) on Saturday, as the Flames and Salukis met for a double header to avoid Sunday weather in southern Illinois.
GAME ONE RECAP
James Harris was the story for the Flames in game one, as the UIC first baseman clobbered two home runs in the contest, accounting for all four of the Flames' runs. His go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth was his third of the season.
UIC took the lead in the fifth on
Harris' three run shot, before the Salukis answered with two in the home half of the inning.
Tommy Egan went 4.1 innings in his third start of the year, striking out seven and allowing just two earned runs.
The Salukis tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning to force extras, and took the victory on a deep single with the bases loaded in the home half of the 10
th by a 5-4 final score.

GAME TWO RECAP
After going back and forth for the opening two frames playing to a 2-2 tie, the UIC offense exploded over the next four innings, plating seven runs to take a commanding seven run lead at 9-2. This offensive outburst was highlighted by four RBI from
Jack Snyder including a two run home run, and a bases-clearing double for
Jackson Bessette.
The Salukis came charging back in the late innings, eventually tying the game at 9-9 in the bottom of the eighth, sending game two to extra innings.
Southern Illinois got a runner to second base in the tenth who was brought home on a walk-off double down the left field line, earning the Salukis the double header sweep and the series victory by a 10-9 final score.

The Flames will close out their season-long eight game road trip on Wednesday, as they will take on NIU in Dekalb, Ill. at 2 p.m. CT. UIC will return to MVC play next weekend, when it hosts Indiana State for a three game set beginning on Friday evening.
