(March 22, 2025) – Less than 24 hours removed from collecting its first Women's National Invitational Tournament win in program history, UIC women's basketball (15-17, 10-10 MVC) heads to Hinkle Fieldhouse to face-off against Butler (15-17, 5-13 BIG EAST) in a second-round match-up Sunday afternoon. Tip-off is slated for Noon (CT).

SCOUTING BUTLER
- This will be the 51st match-up between Butler and UIC, facing off for the first time in nearly a dozen years. Although Butler has maintained a 29-21 overall series lead, the Flames have won three of the past five meetings.
- The Flames won in their last visit to Hinkle Fieldhouse, beating the Bulldogs 62-57 back on Dec. 7, 2013. Future UIC Hall of Famer Ruvanna Campbell was one of the three Flames to end up in double figures, securing a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
- The Bulldogs secured their second consecutive at-large bid in the WNIT after being eliminated by St. John's in the opening round of the 2025 Big East Tournament on March 7, 2025. In program history, the Bulldogs have gone 5-8 in the WNIT dating back to 1998.
- Senior Kilyn McGuff earned a spot on the Second Team All-BIG EAST after finishing the regular season with 12.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. She finished second in the BIG EAST in double-doubles, securing 11 in her senior campaign.
WNIT OPENING ROUND – VS. UAB
- In front of the home crowd at Credit Union 1 Arena Friday night, the Flames secured their first WNIT victory in a 63-48 win over UAB.
- UIC was led by graduate student Keimari Rimmer (Chicago, Ill./Proviso East/DePaul) with a double-double, scoring 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
- Three other Flames also reached double figures in the contest. Grabbing two triples and sinking all five of her free throws, senior Krystyna Ellew (Chicago, Ill./Taft/Wisconsin) finished with 11 points. In her first start of the season, senior Ky Dempsey-Toney (Franklin, N.J./Franklin) scored 10 points in the win. Graduate student Danyel Middleton (Chicago, Ill./Bolingbrook/Marquette) scored 10 points and swiped six steals, tying a career-high.
- The Flames improve their overall record in the postseason to 5-4 (4-2 in the WBI, 1-1 in the WNIT).
