CHICAGO – The UIC baseball team (5-19, 1-3 MVC) opened a three-game series against Indiana State (12-13, 3-1 MVC) on Friday, as the Flames returned to Missouri Valley Conference play looking to gain ground in the early season standings.
Â
The Flames fell behind in the first three innings, as the Sycamores jumped ahead 4-0 thanks in part to a wind-aided two-run home run in the top of the third. UIC wasted no time answering back, as it tallied five runs in the home half of the third inning, highlighted by a bases clearing double off the bat of
Terrick Thompson-Allen to bring home three and tie the game at 4-4.
James Harris drove in the go-ahead run on an RBI double of his own to give the Flames the 5-4 advantage.
Â
Indiana State took the lead for good in the fifth inning, plating 12 runs over the next four frames to take control of the game, earning a 16-5 victory in eight innings.
