UIC Women's Tennis Secures 4-0 Victory Over Belmont

Womens Tennis Win 4-0

Chicago – The UIC women's tennis team (10-4) (MVC 2-1)delivered a commanding performance on the road, defeating Belmont 4-0.

The doubles competition set the tone for the match, with UIC taking the point after victories on courts one and three. The duo of Nia Cooper and Marta Halbersztadt claimed a decisive 6-2 win over Libbie Hamilton and Sarah McElrath, while the Flames also secured a win on court one to clinch the early advantage.

In singles action, UIC continued their momentum with three straight-set victories. At the No. 1 spot, Edit Cosmo led the way, winning the first set 6-0 before her opponent retired, awarding the Flames their second point of the match. Camille Belberka followed up with a strong performance at No. 2 singles, earning a hard-fought 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) victory. Halbersztadt secured the match for UIC with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, sealing the 4-0 triumph over Belmont.

Reflecting on the team's performance, head coach ElizabethLumpkin Robinson remarked, "I was really proud of our team's effort and stepping up for each other. Without our top player in singles, the doubles point was extremely close, and it was awesome to see our team implement skills we have been working on. We fought hard on every court and showed that our team is deep and competitive."
