LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The UIC baseball team (2-12, 0-0 MVC) continued its three-game weekend series against Louisville (11-2, 0-0 ACC) on Saturday, as the Flames looked to avenge a series opening loss Friday.
Â
The Flames stayed in lock-step with the Cardinals early on Saturday, scoring the game's first run on a sac fly in the top of the first inning. After the Cards answered in the bottom of the inning, UIC regained the lead in the second, as
Luke Nowak legged out a two-out infield single to drive in a run, giving UIC a 2-1 lead.
Â
Louisville responded with 12 unanswered runs over the next four innings, putting the Flames in a 13-2 hole headed to the seventh inning. A seventh inning
Nowak home run was not enough to avoid the run rule being put into effect, as Louisville would take the 13-3 victory in seven innings.
