CHICAGO — The UIC Women's Tennis earned a commanding home victory on Sunday, taking down Bradley 5-2 in a confident performance on the Flames' outdoor courts.
The Flames (13-4, 5-1) got on the board early with a doubles win. At No. 2, Edit Cosmo and Camille Belberka powered through for a 6-3 win. The Flames clinched the doubles point with a win by forfeit at No. 3, as Nia Cooper and Paula Rodriguez Gregoris were uncontested.
In singles play, the Flames dominated. Mayu Ushio was locked in at No. 1, rolling to a 6-3, 6-2 win. Edit Cosmo showed grit at No. 2, pulling out a 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 victory in a third-set tiebreak. Marta Halbersztadt (No. 4) and Nia Cooper (No. 5) each won in straight sets, both shutting out their opponents in the second set.
Head coach Elizabeth Lumpkin Robinson was proud of how her team handled the day "It was a beautiful day to be outside on our home courts. These outdoor matches are important preparation for the remainder of our conference season. We look forward to building on the lessons from today and enjoying our seniors' last opportunities to play on our campus.
