Chicago, Ill. – The UIC softball team gets the action started this week with a non-conference cross-town rivalry on Tuesday, April 14
th, as they take on the DePaul University Blue Demons. Heading over just five miles north of campus, the Flames will take on the Blue Demons in a 4:00 PM contest inside Cacciatore Stadium. A live stream will be available on the

HISTORY VS DEPAUL
The Flames and Blue Demons met earlier this season on March 18
th on Flames Field, resulting in a DePaul 9-8 win over UIC. The Blue Demons took the early lead, and the Flames pushed for a late comeback at the bottom of the seventh but fell short after plating four runs.
LAST WEEKS RECAP
- The Flames picked up two wins Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) last week, with a 3-0 win on the road over Valparaiso on Tuesday, April 8th, and a 3-2 win over Belmont on Sunday, April 13th.
- In the Flames 3-0 win over Valparaiso, Dee Dee Caskey started the game with a lead-off triple followed by an RBI single from Hailey Cowing, giving the Flames the early lead. A Grace Fleming two-RBI single up the middle in the second ultimately gave the Flames their winning score of 3-0.
- In the Flames 3-2 win over Belmont, freshman pitcher Jasmine Whorley recorded the shutout victory while picking up two strikeouts. Trailing 2-1 after one inning, Siena Stickney gave the Flames the lead in the bottom of the sixth with a two-RBI single, eventually leading to the Flames 3-2 victory.
- For the week, Cowing went 7-for-13 with a .538 AVG, four RBI, one run, one double, and a .615 SLG%
- Cameran Rios went 6-for-12 with a .500 AVG with one RBI and three runs
- Whorley earned both of the Flames wins last week after pitching 17.2 innings.
