MILWAUKEE – The UIC baseball team (9-25, 5-7 MVC) returned to mid-week action on Tuesday evening, as the Flames traveled north for a match-up against Milwaukee (12-22, 9-5 Horizon League).
Â
The Panthers struck first on Tuesday on their home turf, plating four runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-0 lead. After a fourth inning run to extend the lead to five runs, the Flames' offense began to come alive, scoring one in the fifth on a
Christian Holmes RBI single and one in the sixth on a
Thomas Curry single through the left side to bring home a run.
Â
Trailing 7-2 heading into the top of the ninth inning, the Flames put together a rally that forced three Panthers pitching changes in the inning.
Luke Nowak drove in a run for the third straight game, as his RBI single made it 7-3.
Holmes scored from third on a wild pitch later in the inning, but the Flames would leave the tying run at first base, falling by a 7-4 final score.
