Track and Field Prepares for Multiple Meets Over the Weekend

The Flames will be competing in two meets over three days.

CHICAGO - UIC is set to compete in its fourth and fifth meets of the 2025 outdoor track and field season this Thursday through Saturday, at the Don Church Twilight hosted by Wheaton College and the Gibson Invitational hosted by Indiana State. The Flames will look to carry the momentum from their last outing at the Normal Invite, where they saw two individual event winners.
 
MEET INFORMATION - DON CHURCH TWILIGHT HOSTED BY WHEATON COLLEGE
 
Thursday - Running events will begin at 3:30 p.m. (CT)
 
The event will take place at McCully Stadium (Wheaton, IL 60187).

FLAMES TO WATCH - DON CHURCH TWILIGHT
 
Orlando Hernandez and Nolan Rogers will compete in the 10,000m event.
 
 
MEET INFORMATION - GIBSON INVITATIONAL BY INDIANA STATE
 
Friday - Field events will begin at 8:30 a.m. (CT), with running events set to begin at 5:00 p.m. (CT).
 
Saturday - Running events will begin at 10:30 a.m. (CT), with field events starting at 11:00 a.m. (CT)
 
The event will take place at Gibson Track (320 N 1st St, Terre Haute, IN 47807).

FLAMES TO WATCH - GIBSON INVITATIONAL
 
Women
  • Graduate student Alessia Sarussi will compete in the 1500m, an event she currently holds the second best time for in school history.
  • Senior Nyarai Terry will compete in the 100m hurdles, an event she currently ranks second all-time in school history.
  • Sophomore Ava Maglaya will compete in the triple jump, an event she holds the fourth best mark for in school history.
Men
  • Senior Paul Sackman will be competing in the 100m, an event he holds the seventh best time for in school history.
  • Sophomore Amare Harris will compete in the 400m.
  • Sophomore Alexander Das will run the 800m event.
 
THE NORMAL INVITE RECAP
  • The Flames competed in their third meet of the 2025 outdoor campaign at the Normal Invite, setting personal bests performances and seeing two individual event winners.
  • Daniel Chavez won the 1500m in a time of 3:53.29, setting a new personal best and the seventh best time in school history..
  • Paul Sackman  placed second in the 100m with a time of 10.90.
  • Amare Harris ran a new personal best in the 400m with a time of 21.86, good enough for fourth place.
  • Alessia Sarussi won the 800m in a time of 2:11.96, the sixth best time in school history.
  • Ava Maglaya jumped a new personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 11.51m, which placed fourth overall.
  • Nyarai Terry placed sixth in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.07.
