CHICAGO – The UIC baseball team (11-27, 7-8 MVC) opened a three-game series Friday night against Bradley (8-27, 4-11 MVC), as the Flames looked to continue their momentum in Missouri Valley Conference play.
Â
On a blustery, cold night in downtown Chicago, the Braves were first to strike on the scoreboard Friday night, as Bradley tallied two runs in the third inning to jump ahead. Offense was hard to come by for much of the night for the Flames, as UIC tallied just one extra base hit on the night.
Dillon Schueler was solid on the mound once again for the Flames, going six complete innings and surrendering just two runs, one earned and striking out seven, a new season-high for the junior right-hander.
Â
UIC scratched a run across in the home half of the seventh, as
Lucas Smith brought home
Vidal Colon with an RBI single following a two-out double from
Colon.
Â
Bradley answered with an insurance run in the top of the eighth, and another in the top of the ninth, putting away the game by a 4-1 final score.
