CHICAGO – The UIC baseball team (13-29, 9-9 MVC) closed out a four-game home stand on Monday morning, as the Flames welcomed Washington (25-21, 13-8 B1G) to Curtis Granderson Stadium for the first time in series history.
Â
The Huskies took the early advantage, as they plated a first inning run on a double play to go ahead 1-0. After the Flames tied the game on a second inning fielder's choice, UIC would take the lead an inning later on a
Thomas Curry RBI single to go ahead 2-1.
Â
That would be the last lead of the game for UIC however, as the Huskies tallied 12 unanswered runs over the next five innings to take control of the game at 13-2.
Â
The Flames answered with five in the eighth inning highlighted by a
Blake Cowans RBI single to center, before the Huskies added two more insurance runs in the top of the ninth.
Will Flanigan drove in a run with a double in the bottom of the ninth but would be stranded at third with Washington earning the 15-8 victory.
