Chicago, Ill. – A month after the initial start of the game, the UIC softball team and the Illinois State University Redbirds will resume their Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) game from March 29th, tomorrow on April 30th, with the score tied at 4-4. The series finale game was suspended a month ago due to rain. Action will resume at 4:00 PM in Marian Kneer Stadium in Normal, Ill., with the Flames' Emma Gumont up to bat in the top of the fifth inning with a runner on second and one out. Live stats will be available on UICFlames.com.
BEFORE THE DELAY
Before Mother Nature played a role, action began to fire up between the Flames and Redbirds. After two scoreless innings, Gumont put the Flames on the board with a two-RBI single in the top of the third inning before the Redbirds made it a one-run game in the bottom half. Then, in the fourth inning, Grace Fleming nailed a two-run home run, giving the Flames a 4-1 lead. The Redbirds answered quickly, though, tying the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the inning before action was suspended in the fifth.
