ELMHURST, Ill. – Battling chilly spring temperatures, the UIC men's and women's track & field teams put together a strong showing at the Chicagoland Championships hosted by Elmhurst University on Friday and Saturday, April 4–5. With over 30 universities across all divisions represented at Langhorst Field, the Flames posted nine new personal best performances across the two-day event.
MEN

Long Jump: Olukolajo Sodipe placed 3rd overall with a leap of 6.60m.

100m: Paul Sackman finished 7th overall, clocking in at 11.07.

1500m: Angel Solis ran a new personal best of 3:58.81 to place 8th overall.
WOMEN
-
1500m: Alessia Sarussi took 1st place overall with a time of 4:30.65.

Triple Jump: Ava Maglaya won the event with a personal best mark of 11.45m, tying her for 4th all-time in UIC program history.

100m Hurdles: Nyarai Terry placed 4th overall, finishing in 15.34.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"The cold weather conditions this weekend were a little tough, but our program was up to the challenge and competed strong in each event," said head coach Paul Zavala. "Great to have several teammates break through with new personal bests along with having a few event winners this weekend. We are looking forward to continue building momentum into next weekend's competition at Illinois State."
