NORMAL, Ill. – The UIC baseball team (17-31, 13-11 MVC) closed out its three game series at Illinois State (24-25, 13-11 MVC) on Sunday, with the series win in the balance after the two teams split the opening two contests Friday and Saturday.
Â
Pitching was the story of the day for both sides, as another masterful outing for
Brandon Bak (7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER) was overshadowed by a complete game shutout twirled by Illinois State's Tanner Perry.
Â
The Flames looked as though they could tie the game in the top of the ninth, as
Luke Nowak made it to third base with just one out representing the tying run. However, back-to-back strikeouts from Perry kept UIC off the board, and ran the game final at 1-0.

The Flames do not have a scheduled mid-week contest, so they will prepare for their final MVC series of the season next weekend, as they welcome Belmont to Curtis Granderson Stadium for a three-game set beginning on Thursday. All three games can be seen on ESPN+, and Saturday's season finale will also serve as Senior Day.
