CHICAGO – After a successful four-year career in a UIC Flames uniform, recent graduate Ky Dempsey-Toney signed her first professional contract with Ženski Košarkaški Klub Šibenik in the Preimijer Liga in Šibenik, Croatia.

"We are so proud of Ky!" head coach Ashleen Bracey said. "This is a young lady that has worked every single day over the last three season for this opportunity.  Over this past season, Ky became one of the top post players in the Missouri Valley Conference. Stretching her game to beyond the arc, demanding double teams and establishing herself as a reliable defender. Ky's best basketball is ahead of her. We wish her the best of luck as she continues her career in Croatia. We will be following and supporting every step of the way."

Dempsey-Toney played in over 127 games at UIC and was penciled into the starting line-up 20 times in her collegiate career. Her best year came in this past season, where she averaged career-highs in points (8.2 PPG), rebounds (5.3 RPG), total steals (18), and three-pointers made (seven).  She was second on the team in blocks (20), field goal percentage (.538) and led the team in three-point percentage (.467).

The forward collected a dozen games in double figures her senior season, including two games with 20+ points. In the quarterfinals of the 2025 Credit Union 1 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Basketball Championship against Missouri State, Dempsey-Toney collected her third double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds on March 14.

Dempsey-Toney is the second UIC player under Bracey who has signed a professional contract. Former Flames student-athlete Dais'Ja Trotter competed for the Mat Moghreb Teoutan women's basketball team in Morocco during the 2024-25 season.
