CHICAGO – The UIC women's soccer program kicked off competition with a historic match against in-state foe Illinois, but the Flames fell to the Fighting Illini 1-0 to open the 2025 season.
Wearing their brand-new red kits in front of a full season-opening crowd, the Flames and Illini were underway for their 2025 season opener. The Thursday contest saw the Illini capitalize on their first shot of the contest, scoring in the 3rd minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Flames had their opportunities, placing five of nine shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. Hannah Gryzik would get a last-minute shot opportunity with a free kick about 25 yards out, but came up short.
