CHICAGO – Back on Flames Field, the UIC women's soccer team welcomed the Chicago State Cougars for a non-conference match up. Following a senior day celebration of the Flames eight seniors:
Bella Baker,
Riley Collett,
Chopper Carriere,
Delaney Engel,
Hannah Gryzik,
Sophia Jaime,
Bella Lister, and
Francesca Faraci, the Flames battled to a nil-nil draw versus the Cougars.
Although the scoreboard read 0-0 at halftime, the Flames controlled much of the first half. They would create four chances, with one shot on goal by
Chopper Carriere in the 19
th minute.
Riley Collett,
Sophia Jaime, and
Amina Marin all had shot opportunities.
Francesca Faraci and
Bella Lister shared time in the net, but thanks to the Flames' defense, they didn't face any shots.
With 45 down and 45 to go, the Flames looked to up their pressure even more. UIC would go on to remain in control of the game, recording seven more shots in the second half, placing three on goal. Unfortunately for the Flames, they were unable to find the back of the net, eventually leading to the final whistle with the score at 0-0.
Defensively, the Flames shined, not allowing the Cougars any shots through 90 minutes of action. Faraci, Lister, and
Sara Sanabria all shared time in goal, splitting the clean sheet.
