Spokane, Wash. – Kicking off their four-game away stretch, the UIC women's soccer team made a cross-country trip to Washington state to take on the Gonzaga University Bulldogs. The Thursday contest saw the Zags (2-1, 0-0 WCC) come out quick, scoring a goal just eight minutes into the contest. With the Zags controlling most of the game, the Flames (1-3-1, 0-0 MVC) struggled to create opportunities. At the final whistle, the Flames fell to the Zags 3-0.
Underway in Spokane, the Zags came out quick, scoring in the 8
th minute of action with a left-footed deflected shot to take an early 1-0 lead over the Flames. In the 23
rd minute,
Riley Collett took the Flames' first shot of the game, but it resulted in a Zags save. After committing a foul in the box,
Sara Sanabria came up with a huge save for the Flames in the 36
th minute on a Zags penalty kick attempt. Sanabria dove to her right to keep the ball out of the net, keeping the Flames within one as halftime inched closer. Before the halftime whistle, the Flames blocked a Zags shot, ending the half with the Flames down 1-0.
Similar to the first half action, the Zags came out quick, scoring their second goal of the game just under three minutes after kick-off. The home team held control for much of the second half, limiting the Flames to four shots. In the 80
th minute, the Zags extended their lead, placing a header shot into the back of the net. The final minutes came and went, as the Flames fell to the Zags 3-0.

The Flames will close out their Washington trip on Sunday when they head over to Cheney to take on the Eastern Washington Eagles. Kick-off is set for 1:30 p.m. CT.
