Women’s Tennis Drops Doubles Point, Dominates Singles to beat Omaha

The Flames take down the Mavericks 6-1 at XS Tennis Village

CHICAGO - UIC women's tennis won its first match of the 2026 campaign Thursday afternoon beating Omaha 6-1. Omaha started strong taking the doubles point, but the Flames bounced back to dominate singles winning all six matches. Sophomore Edit Cosmo stood out winning at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1. Junior Nia Cooper also had a strong day as her No. 2 doubles team was victorious. On the singles side, she dropped the first set 6-1, before responding in the second and third sets winning 6-1, 6-3 to take the match.

The Flames are back in action Friday afternoon at XS Tennis against Grand Valley State.

Quote from Coach Lumpkin Robinson:
"I was really proud of how our team fought from start to finish today. We bounced back after a tough doubles point loss and competed hard at every singles spot. They showed a lot of adaptability and maturity, especially for the beginning of the season."
