SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The UIC baseball team is set to embark on its 2026 season this weekend, as they prepare to face-off against Incarnate Word for a three-game series at Sullivan Field. Friday and Sunday games will be streamed on ESPN+, and every game will have live stats available at UICFlames.com.

SCOUTING INCARNATE WORD

• This series will be the second meeting both programs on the diamond. The Cardinals hold an 1-0 overall lead in the series, winning the lone match-up back on Feb. 21, 2024.
• Incarnate Word is coming off a 17-33 overall record a season ago, going 3-27 against Southland Conference opponents.
• The Cardinals are being led by first-year head coach Nick Zaleski, who previously made stops at Tarleton State, McNeese, UTSA and Sam Houston State.

A SEASON AHEAD – NEW LOOK FLAMES READY TO RISE

• The Flames enter the season with 14 student-athletes set to return to the diamond, and 19 new faces ready to make their debut for the program.
• UIC was picked third in the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Favorites on Jan. 29. The Flames finished with 59 points in the poll, earning one first-place vote.
• Five Flames also landed on the MVC Players to Watch List: seniors Brandon Bak, Mason Buss, Will Smoot, graduate student Jared Lessman and junior Thomas Curry all earned recognition.
• The Flames finished last year with a 22-33 overall record and 16-11 mark in MVC play, placing fourth in the Valley and advancing to the final day of the MVC Baseball Championship.
