Softball Heads to Louisiana For Five Games

The Flames will take on Lamar, McNeese State and Austin Peay

CHICAGO – The UIC softball team is set to continue the 2026 season on Friday as they take part in the Carl Vincent Insurance Invitational, hosted by McNeese State from February 13-15. Over three days, the Flames will compete in five games against three different opponents. First pitch will take place at 1:30 p.m. CT on Friday. Live stats will be available on UICFlames.com.

Feb. 13:  Lamar – 1:30 p.m. – Season opener - Live stats

HISTORY

Lamar – This will be the first meeting between the Flames and Cardinals.

McNeese State – This will mark the second and third meetings between the Flames and Cowgirls, with UIC winning the lone matchup. They last met on Feb. 26, 2000, where the Flames came away with a 9-2 victory.

Austin Peay – This will mark the fourth meeting between the Flames and Governors, with Austin Peay holding a 3-0 edge over UIC. Their last meeting took place on Mar. 12, 2023, where the Flames fell to the Governors 3-6.

UNLV LEADOFF CLASSIC RECAP

The Flames played five games to open their season at the UNLV Leadoff Classic, winning two. One of their wins came against Purdue in a 5-4 walk-off, the win was the first for the Flames over a Big Ten team since 2018. Larissa Ortiz led the team in RBI with five for the weekend, while Trinity Brandhorst and Jasmine Whorley picked up wins in the circle.
