HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS – The UIC baseball team (1-3, 0-0 MVC) is set to continue its stay in Texas to start the 2026 season, as they prepare for a three game series against Sam Houston (3-1, 0-0 CUSA) at Don Sanders Stadium.

SCOUTING SAM HOUSTON
- This series will be the first meeting between the Flames and Bearkats.
- Sam Houston is looking to maintain momentum after collecting a 4-3 victory against Houston Christian (0-5, 0-0 SLC) Tuesday night after a bases loaded walk in the top of the eighth.
- The Bearkats are looking to bounce back from a 12-43 overall record in 2025, going 6-19 against Conference USA opponents.
LAST GAME RECAP - AT UTSA
- The Flames lost their last time out in a mid-week game against UTSA, 10-3 out at San Antonio in the one game match-up.
- Juniors Jake Busson and Lucas Smith drove in runs for the Flames.
- Starting pitcher Mason Buss pitched three innings giving up two earned runs while striking out two.
- Through the team's first four games, Busson leads the Flames in home runs with two and is tied with senior Will Smoot for the lead in runs batted in with four. Smoot also leads the Flames with a .417 batting average.
