Softball to take part in Frost Classic

Flames will face Cornell and Chattanooga

CHICAGO – The UIC softball team will take part in their third tournament of the year beginning on Friday as they take part in the Frost Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from February 20-22. Over three days, the Flames will face each opponent three times. First pitch of the Flames first game on the weekend will take place at 11:30 a.m. CT on Friday. HISTORY
Cornell – This will be the first meetings between the Flames and the Big Red.

Chattanooga – This will mark the seventh, eighth, and ninth meets between the Flames and Mocs, with UIC leading the series 4-2. The two sides last met on March 4, 2007, where the Flames came home with a 1-0 victory. 

CARL VINCENT INSURANCE INVITATIONAL RECAP
The Flames played five games last weekend in the Carl Vincent Insurance Invitational, winning two. UIC picked up a 5-3 win against McNeese State on Feb. 13th before defeating Austin Peay 7-5 on Feb. 15thSiena Stickney finished the week going 6-for-12, with four RBIs, six runs, and a double. Cameran Rios finished the week going 6-for-12 with four RBIs, four runs, two doubles, a triple, and a home run. Rios hit her first career homer to right center field in the Flames victory over McNeese. Jasmine Whorley finished the week going 2-0 in the circle after pitching 13.1 innings, throwing three strikeouts, and recording a 6.30 ERA.
