Swimming and Diving Prepares for Missouri Valley Conference Championships

The four-day meet will be hosted in Evansville, Ind. at the Deaconess Aquatic Center.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The UIC swimming and diving programs are headed to Evansville, Ind. to compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships this Wednesday to Saturday. The Flames will look to take home some hardware in their first postseason meet, with the meet beginning at 10:30 a.m. (CT) Wednesday.
 
The women's team was selected to finish fourth by the MVC coaches in a poll receiving 57 points.

SEASON RECAP
Women
  • The Flames had a record of seven wins and two losses this season.
  • Senior Kerry-Leigh Morrison has put together a strong season earning two Missouri Valley Conference Women's Diver of the Week awards (Oct. 15, Nov. 4) and reached an NCAA Zone C qualifying score in both the one-meter and three-meter events.
  • Sophomore Georgina Bell has been tremendous in her second collegiate season, earning MVC Women's Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 21. Bell also set an USI Aquatic Center record in the 50 freestyle posting a time of 24.31 on Jan. 10. She also qualified for the NICs in the 50 butterfly.
  • Georgina Bell, Madison Helmick, Zoe Shields and Macie McCurry set a school record and qualified for the NICs in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:32.67.
Men
  • The Flames had a record of two wins and seven losses this season.
  • Senior Harrison Nolan has earned four Missouri Valley Conference men's Diver of the Week awards (Oct. 15, Oct. 28, Nov. 25 and Feb. 10),  reached an NCAA Zone C qualifying score in both the one-meter, three-meter and platform events and set an MVC record in the one-meter (378.60 points on Jan. 10).
  • Freshman Jay Stewart has had an outstanding first season, winning three weekly awards, winning MVC Men's Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 15 and MVC Men's Freshman of the Week on Oct. 28 and Nov. 4.
  • Freshman Noah Pelinkovic has also been having a strong first year, earning MVC Men's Freshman of the Week award on Jan. 21. Pelinkovic set a USI Aquatic Center pool record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:32.66 on Jan. 10.
