CHICAGO – UIC track and field competed in its final Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championship tune-up, at Notre Dame's Alex Wilson Invitational. In the meet, the Flames combined for five new personal bests, one top-10 all-time indoor performance and was highlighted by a new school record.
WOMEN
Deja Richardson placed sixth in the 60m with a season best time of 7.96s.
Indigo Sterud set a new personal best in the mile with a time of 5:09.14 on her way to a 10th place finish.
MEN
Christian Valadez set a new freshman school record in the 400m with a time of 48.85s, which was good for second place in the event.
Ikechi Ibe placed second in the 60m hurdles with the 10th best time in school history, 8.74s.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"Today we had several strong performances that should lead to additional qualifiers for the Indoor MVC Championships and exciting to see our freshman class continue to break records this season," said head coach
Paul Zavala. "Our focus turns to our Indoor Championships next weekend and strongly believe we can make this upcoming championship a memorable one."
