Women’s Basketball Fends Off Evansville in a 68-65 Victory Saturday Afternoon

Jessica Carrothers leads UIC to win behind 18 points, surpassing 2,000 points in her collegiate career.

CHICAGO – Five free throws between senior Jessica Carrothers and graduate student Sara Zabrecky in the final 30 seconds of the game, the UIC women's basketball team (11-12, 6-6 MVC) securing a Missouri Valley Conference victory over Evansville (6-18, 4-9 MVC) Saturday afternoon, 68-65.

Carrothers led all scorers with 18 points, two rebounds and two assists across 36 minutes of play. The senior managed to surpass 2,000 career points in her collegiate career on both the NCAA and NAIA levels. Redshirt-sophomore Julia Coleman scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Sophomore TuTu Clayton and senior Amelia Strong each collected nine points in the win.

FLAMES FACTS
  • The Flames have won seven straight meetings against the Purple Aces, a streak dating back to January 2024.
