NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The UIC baseball team (6-16-1, 2-2 MVC) continued its three-game series against Belmont (9-17, 1-3 MVC) Saturday afternoon, as the Flames looked to even the series at one game each following a 4-3 loss in the series opener Friday.
Saturday starter
Brandon Bak took the mound for UIC, in search of his second win of the season on a windy Nashville afternoon. The senior left-hander dazzled over eight innings, surrendering only one run on four hits.
Bak would receive a no-decision for his efforts, leaving a tie game after eight at 1-1.
Lucas Smith provided the offense for the Flames, as his RBI double in the fifth proved to be the only run of the game for UIC. The Bruins rallied in the bottom of the tenth, as a leadoff double would come around to score and win the game on a single through the drawn-in Flames infield.
