Nashville, Tenn. – Closing out their Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) opening series, the UIC softball team and the Belmont Bruins faced off in a solo contest.
Cameran Rios opened the game getting on base off an error by the Bruins, but from there on out, the Bruins ace pitcher Maya Johnson stopped the Flames from gaining any momentum. Johnson would go on to throw a no-hitter against the Flames as the Bruins would record runs in every inning besides the third. In the fifth inning, run ruled would be implemented as the Flames fell to the Bruins 8-0. The Flames record falls to 11-12-1, 1-2in conference play, while the Bruins move to 15-6, 2-1 in conference play.
