CHICAGO – The UIC men's and women's track and field programs are set for a high-profile weekend of competition as the Flames split their squads across three prestigious meets. The team will send representatives to the West Coast for the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays in California, while the rest of the roster travels to Terre Haute, Ind., for the Gibson Invitational.
LAST TIME OUT
The Flames maintained their upward trajectory last weekend at the Chicagoland Championships and the Illini Deca-Jam. The squads combined for six UIC all-time top-10 performances and 20 new personal bests.
The highlight of the weekend came from freshman Carissa Uy, who etched her name into the record books by setting a new school freshman record in the outdoor long jump with a mark of 5.68m. Other standout performances included Alayna Filipiak (3rd in 400m hurdles) and Chinenye Ifeajekwu (4th in 100m), both of whom earned spots on the program's all-time top-10 list. On the men's side, Emanuel Murphy claimed a victory in the 400m (49.71), while Amare Harris secured a runner-up finish in the 200m (21.66).

FLAMES FACTS
As the outdoor season enters its peak, the Flames head into the weekend with an eye on the record books. Daniel Chavez looks to build on his historic season after setting the 5,000m school record earlier this month, this time taking on the 10,000m in Azusa. In Indiana, freshman record-holder Carissa Uy looks to extend her momentum in the long jump, while Amare Harris shifts his focus to the 400m after a string of dominant performances in the shorter sprints.
