IOWA CITY, Iowa – Following its game against NIU, the UIC baseball team (15-21-1, 10-5 MVC) will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Iowa (22-16, 7-11 B1G) for an out of conference midweek matchup at Duane Banks Field. This will be the Flames fifth game this season against a B1G conference opponent. The game will be available to stream on

SCOUTING IOWA
- This game will be the 13th meeting between the Flames and Hawkeyes. UIC leads the all-time series 9-3.
- Iowa won its most recent contest against Western Illinois by run-rule in seven innings by a score of 22-3.
- Senior Gable Mitchell leads the Hawkeyes in batting average (.385), extra-base hits (21) and runs scored (46). Mitchell is fourth in the B1G Conference in batting average and runs scored.
- Junior Maddux Frese leads the Hawkeyes qualified pitching staff in earned run average (3.09) and innings pitched (46.2).
NIU RECAP
- The Flames lost against NIU on Tuesday night by a score of 9-8.
- The Flames led for the majority of the game before surrendering their lead in the eighth inning. In the bottom of the ninth the Flames comeback bid fell short as they left two runners stranded as the final out was recorded.
- Four Flames hit home runs with Ashton Kampa, Thomas Curry, Andrew Pyszka and James Hackett all going deep.
- Both Curry and Hackett's home runs came with a runner on base. Sean Cody also drove in a run for the Flames.
- In relief Jake Jakubowski pitched 1.2 innings without surrendering a run and striking out three.
UIC CAREERS IN SPORTS DAY
- Prior to UIC's Kids Day Game on April 24, the Flames will host a Career Day event inside the Flames Athletic Center from 9–11 a.m.
