CHICAGO, Ill. – The UIC track and field programs reached new heights this past weekend, delivering a historic performance across three prestigious meets. The Flames combined for six top-10 UIC all-time outdoor performances, 10 new personal bests, and a staggering three new school records at the Bryan Clay Invitational, the Mt. SAC Relays, and the ISU Gibson Invite.
MEN
The record books were rewritten on the men's side, led by a massive performance from Daniel Chavez at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Chavez finished third in the 10,000m (Invite Ht 3) with a blistering time of 28:56.51, setting a new UIC school record. His performance currently ranks him #50 on the NCAA Outdoor National List. Zachary Close also impressed in the 10,000m, clocking a 30:33.40 to move into the #4 spot all-time at UIC.
At the Mt. SAC Relays, Theodore Cunningham added to the record tally, finishing second in the 1500m Elite Invite with a time of 3:50.55, establishing a new school record in the event.
At the ISU Gibson Invite, Emanuel Murphy continued his stellar freshman campaign, finishing 11th in the 400m with a time of 48.79. This performance set a new UIC freshman record. Additionally, Alexander Das secured a fourth-place finish in the 1500m with a time of 3:57.17.
WOMEN
The Flames saw significant movement on the all-time lists during the Bryan Clay Invitational's 800m Open A Division. Praise Oyebanji led the way with a 19th-place finish in 2:09.99, now the fourth-fastest time in program history. She was followed closely by Korima Gonzalez, who took 21st with a 2:10.11, moving into fifth all-time.
At the ISU Gibson Invite, Carissa Uy maintained her high level of competition, leaping 5.64m to take second place in the long jump. In the high jump, Hannah Oluwatomi Oloro earned a ninth-place finish with a mark of 1.60m.

"Our coaching staff is proud of the strong effort our team put together throughout all three competitions all weekend," said head coach Paul Zavala. "Also sending a huge congratulations to our new school record holders and trend of new additions to our Top 10 All-Time lists every weekend."
UP NEXT
The Flames will head to Des Moines, Iowa, for one of the most storied events in track and field: the 116th Drake Relays at Drake University.
